Individual Therapy Tailored to You
Depth-Oriented Therapy for All Ages
Psychotherapy Services
At Green Country Psychology, we offer psychotherapy that is grounded in the belief that real change happens when people feel safe enough to explore the deeper parts of themselves. Our approach draws heavily from psychodynamic and psychoanalytic traditions, enriched by the work of Dr. Jonathan Shedler and others who have demonstrated the power of insight-oriented therapy. We work with clients of all ages—children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families—providing care that is intentional, relational, and thoughtfully responsive to each person’s psychological and emotional needs.
Our Therapeutic Approach

Psychodynamic therapy is more than symptom relief—it’s a collaborative process of uncovering the emotional and relational patterns that shape a person’s inner world. Drawing on Jonathan Shedler’s model of effective psychotherapy, we help clients:
- Increase emotional insight and self-awareness
- Identify recurring patterns in relationships
- Work through avoided thoughts, feelings, and experiences
- Understand how early experiences influence present functioning
- Use the therapeutic relationship as a catalyst for growth and change
While our foundation is psychodynamic, we thoughtfully incorporate other evidence-based approaches—such as cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT), trauma-informed care, play therapy, and humanistic therapy—depending on what is most effective for the client’s goals and circumstances.

Types of Therapy We Offer
Individual Therapy
One-on-one psychotherapy tailored to your emotional needs, life history, and long-term goals. We help clients understand the roots of their struggles—not just manage the symptoms—through deep, relational, and insight-driven work.
Family Therapy
Therapy that helps families build trust, improve communication, and understand one another in more meaningful ways. We support healthier dynamics between parents and children, siblings, or multigenerational family members.
Couples Therapy
We provide emotionally focused and psychodynamically informed therapy for couples seeking deeper connection, improved communication, and healing from past ruptures. Whether you're in crisis or simply looking to grow, couples therapy creates a space to better understand yourselves and each other within the relationship.
Group Therapy
Our interpersonal process groups offer adults the chance to explore how they relate to others in real time. Grounded in psychodynamic group principles, these groups foster emotional honesty, relational insight, and new ways of connecting.
What to Expect: A Comprehensive and Personal Intake Process
Starting therapy at Green Country Psychology begins with a comprehensive intake process designed to understand your needs and goals from the outset. You’ll meet directly with the psychologist or therapist who will be working with you—not a third-party intake coordinator or a referral algorithm.
We believe the therapeutic relationship starts on day one. From your first session, your clinician will begin developing a thoughtful understanding of your emotional history, current concerns, and therapeutic goals. This relational continuity fosters a deeper, more effective treatment experience.
