Licensed Psychologist & Co-Owner, Green Country Psychology
Dr. Doty's comprehensive expertise includes individual, couples, and family therapy, as well as forensic evaluations for courts, Social Security disability consultations, child custody assessments, and fitness-for-duty evaluations. His commitment to being Present is evident in his crisis response work for community tragedies, including the Moore, Oklahoma tornado, and his volunteer mental health support for Hurricane Katrina victims in Denver, while his dedication to remaining Connected drives his inclusive approach to care, including LGBT+ sensitive treatment and innovative therapeutic methods such as tabletop role-playing games. He has developed suicide prevention programs for schools and faith communities, demonstrating his belief that effective therapy extends beyond the individual to heal broader societal wounds.
As a leader in the field, Dr. Doty has served on the Oklahoma Psychological Association's Board of Directors and currently serves as the Oklahoma Psychological Association's Federal Advocacy Coordinator for the American Psychological Association. He is a published author and sought-after speaker on topics ranging from parental alienation to therapeutic gaming applications, and has been interviewed by local news stations on psychological topics of community interest. His professional involvement reflects his Intentional approach to advocacy and systemic change, understanding that capable, caring professionals must work together to address society's significant needs.
Dr. Doty's therapeutic approach centers on understanding people at a deeper level, recognizing how past experiences and relational patterns influence present-day connections and well-being. He positions himself as a collaborative partner who comes alongside clients, focusing on helping them become more intentional, present, and connected in their lives. Understanding that therapy can be a unique and unfamiliar experience, he prioritizes creating a comfortable, accessible environment while demystifying the therapeutic process from the outset.
His philosophy extends beyond traditional therapy goals—while many therapists aim to help clients become their best selves, Dr. Doty thinks bigger. He works to help individuals become effective agents of positive change in their world, combining clinical expertise with a vision for societal healing. Through this intentional, present, and connected approach, he helps clients develop the capacity and compassion needed to walk beside others and contribute to healing the wounds of our communities and world.
